answered prayer

Postby Kelly VK on Thu Feb 14, 2008 10:15 am

I have to tell you guys because it is way too cool and great to keep to myself. God is sooo good. I have a twin brother who has been living in the world for a long time for probably about 9 yrs. He has been involved in everything. You name it. He has been searching for something that can only be found in God. He has been looking in all the wrong places. He told me that when he is high on cocaine or drunk that is when he hears God the clearest. He said he couldn't explain, but i was able to understand. There have been times in my life where substances seemed to be the only way I could make all the "voices" stop and finally feel some peace.

So I was in the furnace on Tuesday morning, and I spent some time in there on my face before God on behalf of my brother knowing that he is God's child and that he has such great potential. I know in my heart that God is going to use him in such a powerful way to impact his kingdom. I have known that since we were in high school. The enemy has just kept him in such bondage thinking that he is nothing and that there is no hope for him. What a lie!!! Anyway before the furnace deal about 3 weeks ago I had called a place called Narrow gate for my brother. He didn't know, but I wanted to see if there was a chance of him getting in because we are over their age limit. By the way this is a place for guys between the ages of 18-25 who want to get help from addictions and get right with God. It is an intense program where they spend 6 months alone with a counselor mentor and two other guys in the woods with God. God centered treatment center. So anyway the director told me that as long as my brother fills out the application that he can be put up for processing and interviewing to come and be in the program. Praise God. Now I knew that I really needed to be praying for his heart to want to get help. I needed to pray for him to come to the end of himself and know that he needs God. So that was my prayer for him in the furnace on Tuesday morning. On wednesday afternoon I recieved a phone call from my mother telling me that David has called Narrow gate and is filling out the application and wants to go!!!!! Praise God!!!! I was so crying and just amazed at how God answers our prayers. I talked to my brother yesterday and he indeed is filling out the application and is going to send it in today to hopefully be accepted into the program for the March session. I am so excited!!! He told me that he wants change and he knows that he needs to get away from the influence that he is under and be alone with God. He told me that right now his good friend is the one that provides cocaine to him any time he wants it. Wow talk about needing a new community!!!

So now guys will you please join me in prayer for him as he is going through this process. I know that the enemy is going to do whatever he can to keep my brother from moving toward God. These next few months is very critical for him. But praise God he is moving in the right direction. So if you could pray for him too I would really love that. His name is David. Thanks guys.

If you know of a guy between the ages of 18-25 who needs help please contact Narrowgate foundation in Nashville Tn. It is a great ministry reaching out to men and helping them overcome their addictions and become all that God has called them to be.

Kelly your correct sometimes you need that encouragement. We are all your brothers and sisters it should be nothing to type a word of motivation. We can all do much better not just limited to small groups. Sometime its great to verbally hear or physically notice the support. I will add David to my prayer list. Love your sister Alex! I hope to actually meet you.
