Bicentennial Man...

Postby Jose.Ferrell on Fri Mar 14, 2008 3:20 pm

Ok, this is completely me not trying to over spiritualize a simpe movie... But last night, I was watching the movie "Bicentennial Man" and... Well it's about a robot with artificial intelligence who somehow develops a soul and personality on his own.. And throughout the whole movie He aspires and gets "upgrades" in order to really make himself more human.

Around the end of the movie he's talking to one of the characters, one he has grown to love, and she begins telling him how it can never work out. He's a robot and will live forever, and she will die... Well that was one of the points said. So he does something profound... Because of His love for this one human, He designs and creates human-like organs for himself and ultimately gets his system pumped with blood which in the end aged him and killed him.

So, this robot, who was made to live forever did everything in his power to become human to be with a human because he loved her which also lead to his death. He gave up eternal life (as long as there was a power source) so that he could live and die with this one person.

Maybe it was in my tiredness, but I was like man, that's kind of like God. He didn't have to send Jesus, but because He loved us, He became human for us. He experienced a life and death... So the UNCREATED God allowed himself to be born of woman (how mind blowing is that) and then die a horrible death... All because He loved us.

I thought that was cool how all that could come from a simple movie.

Hmmm...never saw that.

On the negative side, You could conversely come at it from the flip side...so many of us who are eternal and "seated with Christ in the heavenly realms" make ourselves mortal for 'love' (see Avery's Hope post!) How many sold out Christians do we know who have been taken out by a relationship?

Good thoughts from both sides. I definitely like the outcome of your side more though Jose!
